Company Story:

Virgo Salon was created by Celebrity Hair Stylist Mateo Garcia and Artist/Designer Blair Golden in 2018. Like many Black people, Blair always had a difficult time finding hair stylists who were able to work with and care for his type 4 hair. Frustrated by the lack of options for those with wavy, curly and kinky hair in Southern California, The pair knew that they wanted to create a space where those with textured hair could get the styles they crave but also allow their clients to learn how to care for and ultimately find love and peace with their natural hair textures.

The name for the company was chosen in memory and reverence of Mateo’s Grandmother who was a member of the UTE tribe located in Colorado. She was a naturalist, a medicine woman, and a Virgo. At various times throughout his childhood, he would live with his Grandmother who became a huge influence on his view of living and promoting a healthy, natural, and non-toxic lifestyle. It was this early exposure to natural wellness that ultimately formed Virgo’s vision and focus on Holistic Beauty and wellness.
